Emphasis on Information and Knowledge Science
As expressed in the name of the program, epistemological and cognitive competencies in Information and Knowledge Science, on which the proposed Doctorate in Engineering is based, expresses the interdisciplinary character of the program, characteristic that must be in any program that aims to contribute to the satisfaction of research needs, technological development and innovation of the country.
The interdisciplinarity of the program is appreciated in the areas of research context defined (elective, for the flexibility to focus on a certain area of engineering knowledge) and concerning: Digital Signal/Image Processing, Nanotechnology and Nanoscience, next Generation Networks, Knowledge Engineering, Knowledge Management, Geographic Information Science and Geomatics, Organizational Engineering, Organizational Intelligence, and Business Intelligence. All of them, as their name implies, correspond to different related engineering disciplines, but which also have a common component that integrates them, it correlates and constitutes the fundamental axis of its interaction around the conception of "information and knowledge".
These areas of research context have led to the definition and adoption of elective courses or seminars, each of which is justifiably supported by the professors of the Doctorate, whose training profiles and research experience will facilitate the development of competencies in doctoral students.
Additionally, these areas of research context allow another degree of interdisciplinarity and integrability with the emphases of the Master's Degrees in Engineering that relate to the Doctorate.
